Finally we can officially wave goodbye to the winter blues and welcome- warmly- the arrival of spring! It might be cold, it might be wet, but the evenings are lengthening by the rooster’s steps and the eternal optimism of spring is in the air.

A great way to ‘kick start’ the spring season is to go to a rugby match to warm up your vocals after a cold winter and lucky for you the Aviva stadium Dublin has a few major games lined up. If you have a loving relationship with rugby well then attending the Ireland vs France game on Valentine’s Day seems like the perfect match!

If you are a fan of films but feel that you have been cooped up all winter watching an abundant of films, how about watching films with a change of scenery? The Jameson Dublin International Film Festival is the perfect spring festival for you.

The JDIFF has become Ireland’s premier feature film festival and it takes place in Dublin city centre over the course of 11 days and nights. Over the years an array of film talent has joined in with the celebration including Daniel Day Lewis, Gabriel Byrne, Jim Sheridan, Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Charlize Theron, Colin Firth and Liam Neeson, among others, all of whom have graced the JDIFF red carpet.

Ireland vs England

Ireland vs England at the Aviva Stadium is one of the biggest games of the year and it is sure to be a cracker! The tickets are like gold dust and if you managed to get your hands on tickets well done, but for those of us who weren’t so lucky, the O’Callaghan Mont Clare hotel No 1 Bar is an ideal place to watch the game in comfort while having a pint of Guinness and choosing a delicious meal from our all day bar menu.

Jersey Boys

We’re lucky to have a wide variety of show venues right on our doorstep; major venues such as the Gaiety Theatre, the Olympia and the Bord Gáis theatre provide us with lots of great entertainment. Dark light- Festival of Independent Creativity

Even though this article is about the spring season and we are visualizing brighter longer days, this doesn’t exactly mean that you should avoid the Darklight Festival. Darklight came, conquered and took over Smithfield with film screenings, visual art, live music, street games, workshops, discussions and hack-jams. 15 years on, this edition of the festival demonstrated why Darklight remains Dublin’s pioneering festival of independent creativity.

Date: 26th April.
